Expect the Best

Welcome

Week beginning 23rd March

Home learning

  • This week we are asking for children to complete the tasks set on purple mash. Myself and Miss Woodward are checking it as often as possible to see who is completing work. There are several tasks to complete please take your time with these and we will be setting new tasks regularly.
  • Please refer to http://www.pobble365.com/ for daily English tasks, to be completed in exercise books.
  • We have set maths for the week using https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/ - watch the video and then complete the task - either download and print the sheets or complete the questions into your exercise books.
  • At the bottom of this page, I have attached some topic and science work.
  • I have put links on the previous page to different websites to support maths, english and physical education. Please use them as you wish.

We are asking parents to just check through the learning (answers are on the white rose website) to ensure children are on track.

Due to Government decision to close schools until further notice, the year 3 team have prepared a home learning pack for each child.

We appreciate that childcare at this time may be difficult, so we are asking kindly that you work through the home learning pack the best you can, and at your own pace.

Each pack includes:

  • An exercise book and pencil - to record work
  • maths including times table practice
  • english including spelling, punctuation and grammar.
  • Guided reading - a picture and then answer questions, a longer text and questions
  • year 3 and 4 spelling list (we will set spellings from this weekly)
  • topic work - The angry earth - sets of activities, pick the ones you want to do and complete them.
  • practical activities - fun things you can do at home with links to different subjects

We also kindly ask that you visit https://www.purplemash.com/sch/stjohns-PE29 daily to access online learning, and some fun age appropriate games too! Myself and Miss Prichard will be setting daily activities for the children to complete, which we can see remotely once completed and saved.

All you need to do is enter your child’s username and password code, which can be found on the card attached to the letter sent home.  If Purplemash isn't working please use the packs for offline study or use some of the alternative links from below.

We also hope to update Chaffinch and Puffin class pages regularly with helpful website links for you access at home!

Thank you for all your continued support at this time, and for baring with us while we get things running as smoothly as possible.

Miss Prichard
