English: The first thing that is very important when it comes to writing recounts is that things are written in time order – the beginning, middle and end. It is no good if we start with the end and finish with the middle (it will not make sense and it will be all over the place). To practice putting things in time order, I would like you to sequence the pictures on Purplemash of a typical weekday when you go to school. Once completing this, in your home learning exercise books to practice your handwriting, I would like you to write some sentences about the pictures that you have just ordered. However, you will need to use the following words which are known as time connectives:

  • First,
  • Then,
  • After that,
  • Later,
  • Following that,
  • Finally,

Think carefully as to when you need to use them. If you can as a challenge, put more information into your sentences. So for example instead of writing:

First, I get up.

You could write:

First, I get up from my comfy warm bed and put on my school uniform ready to go to school.


Maths: We are revisiting counting in 5s today. Get your 100-square and colour in all the numbers that are counting in 5s. You should see that the 'ones' part of the number is always a 5 or a 0. You could draw around your hand and cut it out ten times. That way you can see that we add 5 each time. Count backwards and forwards in 5s and start from a random number; 'What is the next 5 after 25?' 


Complete the BBC Bitesize home learning activities; Again, you can use your exercise books or a scrap piece of paper to answer the questions. When you have finished, complete the 'Counting in 5s' quiz on Purplemash. 


Phonics: Today we are looking at the split digraph ‘e-e’ making the ‘ee’ sound. Watch this short video to recap yourselves in the split digraph ‘e-e’.

Once you have recapped, log into PurpleMash and complete the ‘e-e’ reading task. Read the words and colour them in one colour if they are real words and the other colour if they are pseudo/alien words (not real). Do not colour the words as we will not be able to read what it says and therefore unable to mark your work.


Guided Reading: After reading your books from yesterday, answer the comprehension questions on PurpleMash. You have been assigned the questions based on your guided reading group. 


Science: Today we are going to be looking at a different type of animal. The reptile. Reptiles can be identified by the following features:

  • Reptiles are cold blooded.
  • Reptiles have scales, not fur.
  • Reptiles have ear holes and not ears.
  • Reptiles have dry skin.
  • Reptiles can live on land or in water.

Work through the powerpoint which is attached below and look at the following BBC website before completing the activity on Purplemash.


PE: Complete Day 2 of the Netball challenge and send us your picture or video of you completing the challenge.
