Expect the Best

Home Learning Pack

Due to the decision to close the school, I have prepared a home learning pack for each child.

We appreciate that childcare at this time may be difficult, so we are kindly asking that you work through the home learning pack the best you can, and continue to liaise with staff  (during term time) to support your child’s education.

Each pack includes:

  • Maths activities and games
  • A copy of the common exception words and contraction for year 1 to practise reading and spelling
  • A reading record to fill in the books that are read at home.
  • Some comprehension texts to read and answer questions about
  • A scrapbook to record your family activities in a fun and engaging way to show everyone on your return to school. This could be photographs, a painting, a poem or any other way of presenting the information. Have fun!
  • Handwriting families for your children to practice.

The topmarks website is also full of really useful interactive maths games that will support your child’s learning.

I will also post work that can be printed and completed at home of the homework section and on this class homepage of the school website so please check this regularly.

Please remember to look at the ‘phonics and reading’ section under ‘curriculum’ on our school website for some fun and interactive links for learning:

We also encourage you to visit to access online learning, and some fun age appropriate games too!

All you need to do is enter your child’s username and password code, which was sent home on the 18th March 2020.

To keep your child active while inside why not try these websites:

  • BBC Supermovers
  • Youtube - just dance

You may also have seen that Joe Wicks is sharing a daily PE lesson called 'PE with Joe' on his youtube channel. Take a look and maybe even join in too!

For Design and Technology ideas please take a look at the document below for fun ideas to enjoy together. Take photos and put them in your scrapbooks so I can see what you have made.

BBC Bitesize is a great website and covers many different curriculum areas (including maths, english, geography, history and science) for you and your child to investigate. It contains interactive games, videos and links which should prove useful over the coming days.

For information about keeping your children safe online, taker a look at which are short videos with the key messages shared in an age appropriate manner. Please watch them first to make sure you are happy with the content and be around to answer any questions your child may have after watching them. Maybe you could then make your own video together presenting the key messages in your own way. You could also create a poster, write a poem, write a story or play and share those in your English book (sent home) or in your scrapbook.

Any whole school updates will be posted on our school website, and our twitter page.

Thank you for your support at this very difficult time
