May 2022:
Summer term.
Welcome back, we have lots of exciting things planned for this academic year.
The year 4 team are Mrs Maginnis for Nightingales and Miss Moyle for Swallows. We also have Mrs Foreman as the year 4 TA, Mrs Rodda as HLTA, Miss Day as named support in Nightingales and Mrs Dunston as named support in Swallows.
This half term we will be learning about sound and we will be creating a variety of experiments within science. We will be learning about The Stuarts in History, South East England in Geography, Monuments of the Byzantine empire in Art, Creating Annimation in ICT and about the changing bodies and looking after ourselves in PSHE.
Our guided reading text for this half term will be looking The Miracululous journey of Edward Tulane; and our English lessons will be based on this book with links to Biographies and Asop Fables. Maths will continue to follow the Inspire Math Scheme looking at decimals and time.
We will also be continuing to practice our times tables using Mathsframe and TT Rockstars setting time limits per question to help prepare for the national year 4 timestable tests.
Homework will be set every Wednesday (Tuesday for Homework club) and will consist of spellings and times tables using Mathsframe, TT Rockstars and Purple Mash. Children will be tested weekly within lessons on their spellings and tables.
Best wishes for an exciting year,
Mrs Maginnis
Homework:
Homework will be set every Wednesday for a return date of the following Monday. The homework tasks will be set on Purple Mash and Google Classrooms. Please do not return homework to school on paper. I will check tasks on both platforms. Spellings and multiplication tables will be tested throughout the week.
