Expect the Best

Welcome

Monday 13th July 2020

Good Morning!

Maths - Today we would like you to revisit money. We would like you to solve a problem through adding money.

Alesha bought a toy monster for 45p. She paid for her monster using only silver coins. Which silver coins could she have used to buy her toy monster? First think about which coins are silver and then think about how she could add them to make exactly 45p. She is able to use the same coin more than once. For example, she could have used 20p +20p+ 5p.

There are 9 possible ways to make 45p including the example I have shown you. See if you can find them all.

If you enjoy the challenge and want to go further, see if you can find 13 ways to make exactly 50p using only silver coins.

Good Luck!

English- Today  and tomorrow we would like you to write your persuasive piece of writing remembering that to be persuasive you are trying to change someone's mind about a particular issue. Use your plan from Friday and the key features list to help you remember what to include. Remember to use paragraphs and persuasive language.

Guided Reading - from Oxford Owl website

This week we would like you to choose your own book to read from Oxford Owl. The Oxford Owl books are colour coded so choose a book from the following colours.

Kingfisher Exclamation marks and Woodpecker Speech marks - White

Kingfisher Speech marks and Woodpecker Exclamation marks - Lime

Kingfisher Full stops and Woodpecker Capital letters - Red or Yellow

Kingfisher Commas and Woodpecker Full stops - Orange

Kingfisher Question marks and Woodpecker Commas -  purple

This week I would like to to design your own book mark based on a book you have read recently.

This week I would like you to recap writing in the past and present progressive tenses. Attached is a sheet where I would like you to write some descriptive sentences using both tenses.

The story on purple mash this week is all Ned and the jungle animals and there are the usual quizzes set for you to complete.

PSHE- As we approach the end of the Year 2, we would like you to reflect on your experiences and all the learning that has happened over the year. I know for many of us  it has both been a wonderful yet sad year as we have missed out on the whole of the summer term together. As part of your reflection think back to the opportunities and learning experiences you have had and complete your memory sheet. It would be lovely if you could send these back to us either via purple mash or the year 2 email. You can colour and decorate this sheet to make it personal to you.
