Our P.E. days are Monday and Thursday (Outside). Please ensure that correct P.E. kit is in school all week. Children will need a P.E. t-shirt, a pair of P.E. shorts and Plimsolls or Trainers. You may like to include a long sleeved t-shirt or jumper and long trouser bottoms for outside games. Please make sure all items of clothing are named. All jewellery must be removed. Please note that if children are unable to remove their earrings, they will be unable to take part in P.E. We are not permitted to remove a child’s earrings so children will need to be able to do this themselves. Long hair should also be tied back.

Reading is very important in Year 1. Your child will bring home a reading book on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please read these each evening and return these so they can be changed for a new one. We have chosen to give children two days per book so that they can look at the books in more detail, and hopefully have a conversation with you about the book to develop their comprehension skills. Information and support about reading can be found on our school website. I also ask that you please add comments to your child’s yellow log book as these are a way of letting us know how they are getting on with their reading at home. Please use the blue St John’s book bags for the daily readers as the yellow book bags are used for Library books.

We ask that each day the children bring with them:
- Water bottle (no juice please)
- Bookbag
- Healthy snack (if suppling a tub please put names on)
- Packed lunch, unless they are having a free school meal
- A coat or jacket

Please ensure that all personal belongings/items of clothing are clearly named.

Weekly spellings and homework will be sent home. Spelling tests will be carried out on a Monday morning and new spellings sent out on Tuesday afternoon.

If you have any questions, please feel free to come and speak to me at the end of the school day.
We look forward to an exciting and fulfilled term!
